If Labyrinth and 3D Brick Breaker Revolution were to make love and have an iPhone game baby, their offspring would play a lot like GloBall. From Labyrinth, who I like to think of as the mother, the ‘marble rolling around on a table’ trait is passed down to GloBall. And from Pops, GloBall inherited the brick breakin’ gene.

And so a new casual game is born – one who is bright, flashy, and eager to please. Plus, with more than 40 levels to offer (so far), it’s got quite a deep personality. Each level is completed when every block has been obliterated, which can be done by simply whacking it with your globall. Between you and success are more than a few tricky obstacles, but no level is insurmountable if you use the ample power-ups that are scattered around the playing field.

A session of GloBall is a great break from more complicated games that ask for too much of your brain power. It’s a straightforward, brick-breakin’ fiesta that looks, sounds, and plays better than the bulk of other games that cost a buck. It also feature a pretty advanced global high scores system that can bring you right back down to Earth when you think you’re a champ. I’d like to see a way to readjust the tilt calibration so you could play without looming over the top of your iPhone, but I guess you can’t have everything.

JUST downloaded the Lite version this morning. Enjoyable, and better than I thought it would be. iPhone has a really good tilt sensor, it blows away any other tilt sensor I've ever used.
