Moonz is all about the cosmos, man. More specifically, it’s all about satellites – moonz or otherwise. It’s like a celestial physics demonstration on your iPhone.
The game offers you more than a few modes to play around with, but there are really only two – time trial and sudden death – that are notable. Each of Moonz’ four levels shows a planet in the middle of your screen, and each has its own gravitational pull. Your mission is to score points by flicking the items you’re given into its orbit for the required length time before the satellites crash into one another. Time trial mode lets you rack up as many points as you can in the given time, and sudden death ends your game as soon as there’s a collision.
Moonz brings some pretty original gameplay to the table, as well as crisp, bold graphics that surpass what’s required of them. The original soundtrack isn’t terrible, but I’d recommend supplying your own background music from your iTunes library. Might I suggest Lou Reed’s Satellite of Love, or Bowie’s Moonage Daydream? Or if you’re feeling really spacey, try There’s a Moon in the Sky (called the Moon) from the B-52’s.
