After your first few takeoffs, Glyder seems like it’s going to be a major downer. But don’t give up – I assure you it’s you that sucks, not the game. If you’re willing to put forth the time and effort, Glyder’s got a lot to offer.

There are other games out there like it, but none of them seems to understand the physics of flight the way Glyder does. You can take off from a standing position on the ground, but as the title suggests, you’ve got only grace in your wings and no power. Although your speed and altitude fade quickly, once you’ve got your pilot license you can stay in the air as long as you can stay awake. Scattered around each of Glyder’s six unique worlds are thermals. Think of them as invisible hot air elevators. Fly over an area with arrows radiating upward, and you can soar to unthinkable heights.

From your first flight at Rift Valley, unlock the other five lands by collecting the required number of crystals for each. Some crystals are right out in the open, but others are tightly nestled between obstacles and force you to perform skillful maneuvers in order to retrieve them. Once all the worlds are unlocked, each can be reached from every other one by simply flying (or glyding) to it, much like the continents of the Earth.

In a word, Glyder is beautiful. It’s a peaceful flight around a gorgeous paradise – all at your own pace. There’s a boatload of content, and the controls couldn’t be simpler or better suited for the gameplay. Check out the free version, or save yourself some time and get the full game now.
