SWIRL is the kind of game that’s great to show off to people for a quick thrill, but I’m afraid it’s not the kind of game that you’re going to play after the first day or two.

And you know how you can play some games in public without anybody knowing what you’re up to? Well not SWIRL. To be successful, you have to frantically rotate your iPhone like the power steering went out in your Buick. You could be totally immersed a game like Drop7 or Peggle, and onlookers would have no reason to suspect that you’re doing anything but responding to important e-mails or checking in on your portfolio’s performance. But trust me, if you’re playing SWIRL, the whole world will know you’re playing a game.

Truth be told, the visuals are pretty exciting. Check out a video here. It’s like a first-person tumbler – a trip down a bottomless well that’s littered with a ton of obstacles you have to avoid by tilting your iPhone or iPod touch. Stay away from magic mushrooms and paint bombs that affect your vision. It’s got five unlockable levels, but all the gameplay is pretty much the same.

For three bucks, I’d definitely check out the lite version before I made the buy.
