iFighter is a straightforward bombardment of pleasure that harkens back to the glory days of scrolling shooters at the arcade. It may not be blessed with luscious, 3-D graphics, but it looks exactly like you would want it to. You’re propelled ever-forward as you’re attacked from all angles by an arsenal of World War II weaponry. Gobble up every power-up you encounter to increase your health and firepower – you’re going to need it.
The most impressive thing about iFighter is that it allows you to customize every aspect of the controls. Granted, there are only a couple of said aspects, but if you can’t get used to the tilt-to-pilot steering, you can easily change to a virtual joystick in the settings menu. And if you’d rather tap a button to fire ammunition instead of the initial auto-fire setting, change that too. You can even adjust the sensitivity of your movements.
iFighter may be derived from a familiar formula, but it flies high above the rest in terms of nostalgic fun. The full version is just a buck, but a free version is available too.
