Bluebird is a slightly more evolved, dramatically more adorable version of iCopter. Like its predecessor, it’s built on a foundation of vapidly easy gameplay, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get bored with it quickly. In fact, it’s remarkably brainless diversions like Bluebird that seem to hold my interest the longest, whatever that may indicate about my intellect.

And there’s no doubt that it’s a one-trick birdie. A tap on the left side of the screen flaps the left wing, and a tap on the right side flaps the right. Each touch propels you a bit upward as well. Using just these controls, your job is to remain in flight as long as possible.

When the power meter in the corner fades away to nothing, you’re dead. It gradually depletes over time, but drops off more quickly when you fly through a storm cloud or collide with another bird. Damage can be reversed by devouring bugs that you encounter in the air.

It’s delightfully simple, and simply delightful.

Get Bluebird.
