If Baseball Superstars were a bowl of Lucky Charms, the home run mode would be the marshmallow trinkets and the rest of the game would be whatever that other stuff is – oats or something. It’s not really boring and it actually tastes kinda good, but you don’t even notice it until you’re through with the breakfast candy.

Knocking the first pitch of a round of home run derby out of the park makes me feel like I do every time I go bowling and roll a strike on my first turn.

‘I think I can get a perfect game here! Just 12 more strikes in a row and I got it!’

Then of course I fail miserably on my second turn (whether we’re talking about baseball or bowling), and the rest of the game sucks because there’s no chance of perfection. Maybe I set the bar too high…

Once you do eat all the marshmallows, this game still has a ton of oats for you to sift through. You can create your own characters, customize your own team and even play a whole season of baseball. The graphics are sweet, and dare I say, the players are pretty cute.

Even if you’re not a huge fan of baseball (like me), Baseball Superstars is a fun way for you to pass the time with America’s pastime.
