JellyCar is a free game, but its price is no indication of its quality. Your job is to direct an amorphous sedan via your iPhone's accelerometer that can be transformed into a short-lived monster truck at a moment's notice.

Sometimes it's advantageous to be the spry little guy, and other times an obstacle requires a looming behemoth to surmount it. Half the fun is strategically closing in on the goal and the other half is watching the jellycar get squished by things and recovering.

One of the coolest things about this game is your ability to zoom in and out to extreme degrees by simply pressing two of your fingers against the screen, just as you would on a photo or Web page. The long distance perspective is a great tool for measuring your progress because you can see the entire level - a sort of 'You Are Here' function.

The tiny red dot in the middle is the car. Yep, you can zoom out that far.

Even the menus within JellyCar are a treat to maneuver around. The icons that represent each of the game's more than 30 levels are malleable and can be bounced all over the screen - just a little touch to maintain the theme of the game.

Since its release, free updates from the developers have doubled the number of levels, most of which boast high replay value. And besides, with a name like JellyCar, it has to be good.

Get JellyCar.

Proof positive that good things CAN be free. I'm impressed at how wide a scope you can see the in-game action.

Tried the demo out on Xbox Live last year and thought it was awesome. When I noticed it on iTunes App Store I immediately got it. Brilliant game and alot of fun. Why would the designer offer this video game for free when they must have put alot of work into making this video game? I'm not complaining. It was very generous. Though I would have purchased this video game for 3 or 4 dollars.
